Just over a month ago I brought together some talented individuals to work on a styled photo shoot featuring beautiful 1920's vintage inspired dresses that could be seen as alternative wedding dresses to your standard 'white gown'. Plus to make it even more appealing we decided to use dresses that would be attainable for budget savvy brides! All of the dresses are from online retailer ASOS (except one stunning Miss Selfridge dress) and all outfits cost under £300 - including shoes, unbelievable I know!
The shoot took place at newly established Wiltshire wedding venue Purton House, a family owned stately home of Georgian heritage. As the photographer and production manager for the shoot I made the decision that I wanted to shoot somewhere that had features to use as backdrops instead of bringing in suppliers to dress a venue. Early on in the planning I knew that I wanted to work with a talented hair and make-up artist to bring the theme together as a bride would do on her day, sticking to the attainable essence of the shoot. The hair was by award winning hair stylist Vicky Turner from Goldsworthy's Hairdressers. Make-up artist Katie Aldridge worked her magic with emphasis on strong lips and romantic eyes. I also brought in talented cake maker Belinda Sidell owner of Belles the Cake Company to give us not only beautiful cakes for the shots but to use as props (and snacks) for the day.
We were initially inspired by the Great Gatsby buzz of the moment but didn't want a 1920's replica shoot it was more about taking the opulence of that time and presenting it in a package that represented great inexpensive styling combined with high quality grooming to give you a high end look without the high end price tags. So as a team we decided on hair and make-up with more of a fashion led look to compliment the vintage inspired contemporary dresses.
These images will be featuring in wedding magazines and blogs in the months to come but i wanted to share them with you now as I am really proud of what we as a team created on the day. Thanks to our model Sophie for the use of her beautiful face to!
